Presently the Big-12 payout for the tv media rights contract is 40.9 million per member per annum. That goes up a few million every until the final year. Bowlsby contacted ESPN about the contract restructure assuming Texas and Oklahoma exited and was told the drop was 14 million per member per annum.

At present the current total per annum is 409 million. With their exit, that drops to 215.2 million to be divided among the 8 remaining members at 26.9 million each per annum. Bowlsby and ESPN both stated that the figure was not exact although ESPN thought it was very close. Bowlsby stated he thought the Remaining 8 would get a bit more than 26.9 million each.

By contrast, BYU, gets just over 9 million per annum and the ACC members get just over 8 million per annum.

The average Big-12 remaining schools also have Tier 3 contracts of varying value. None pull in less than 10 million and a couple pull in almost 20 million per annum. I5 we assume an average of 15 million, then that 15 million on top of 26.9 means that without Texas and Oklahoma, the Remaining 8 members end up with 26.9 + 15 = 41,9 million. Of course this is not free money, they were bringing in 55.9 before. But, that 40 million or so is well above what the ACC make. So, the current members of the Big-12 still have a lot of commercial value and that means access to the CFP.
